Fujiwara Ken (1924-1977) is considered one of the leading artists of Bizen ware despite a short career. His works being much sought after. The Fujiwara family is a long established and renowned family of Bizen ware potters whom prepare the clay for decades to obtain refinement and plasticity before using it.
Ken is the the nephew of Fujiwara Kei (1899-1983) a designated Living National Treasure for Bizen wares whom Ken studied under. He also trained under Kaneshige Toyo and came under the influence of Kitaoji Rosanjin where the admiration was mutual working together for a period of time.
