Nishihata Tadashi (b. 1948) comes from a long line of distinguished Japanese ceramic artists born and working in Tachikui area, between Osaka and Kyoto, historically known as Tamba, one of the six ancient kiln sites. His work reflects his mastery of these ancient techniques as well as his keen sense of refined modern aesthetics, making him one of the masters of Tamba ware.

Nishihata as the leading artist in this area long-celebrated for its ceramics, has brought a new energy and a spirit of modernity to Tamba wares.
His work was recently featured in the exhibition From the Fire at Denver Art Museum
