Yamada Hikaru (1918-1979) was known as an avant-garde artist and founding member of the Sodeisha Group formed in 1948 known mainly for their sculptural works.

Yamada also produced functional jars etc.

His works can be seen in many museums worldwide including the MET in NYC and V&A in London.

The Newcastle Art Gallery in NSW Australia feature a section of the Sodeisha Groups works including Yamada Hikaru.
