Makuzu Kozan II (1859-1940) was the successor to the studio pottery established by Kozan I whom was the appointed artist to the Japanese Imperial Household. The Kozan studio is synonymous with fine porcelains at the turn of the 20th century being featured in many of the world expos in which Japan participated.

Kozan works are featured in many museum collections world wide. The book Bridging East and West, Japanese Ceramics from the Kozan Studio by Kathleen Emerson-Dell is essential reading for collectors of Kozan ceramics.
