a large globular shaped jar in the form of a Korean moon jar with mirror black tenmoku glaze; the underlying kaki glaze is revealed to the mouth and the scroll work to the raised bands as seen on Chinese archaic jars ; both eastern influences which guided Leach are seen in this impressive jar. The seal marks of BL and St. Ives are partly obscured by the thick tenmoku glaze.
A rare and collectible work.
