a flower vase (hanaire) in the sculptural mode of Momoyama type vases favoured in the Tea Ceremony from the 16th century onwards.

This vase in the Iga kiln style being robust and gritty with spatula incised lines displays a spontainity of form, texture and colour .. the glazes of burnt pearl grey, orange and clay white with a modern theme recall the ancient natural colours.
