Suzuki draws inspiration from the traditions of the Mino kilns, which also produced Oribe-ware tea ceramics in the Momoyama period (1573-1615).
This slightly asymmetrical chawan has freely applied glazes in the green Oribe style and underglaze iron-brown abstract patterns/motifs as found on Momoyama wares carried out in a contemporary if not whimsical fashion.
