The name Sozan (1932-2005) is synonymous in Japan with master celadons. Suwa Sozan III follows in the tradition of Suwa Sozan I (1852-1922) appointed as a Imperial Court Artist renowned for his celadons in the style of the Chinese Longquan wares of the Sung and later dynasties.
